About the Role
Assists the Food and Beverage Manager with the operation of the hotel’s In Room Dining outlet, enhancing the guest experience. Responsibilities include communicating with staff, ensuring guest satisfaction, managing inventory, expediting orders, staffing, hiring, training, maintaining brand standards, and financial controls.
Responsibilities
- Effectively communicates with team members, including the Food and Beverage Manager and In Room Dining team.
- Conducts performance evaluations and implements disciplinary actions as required.
- Reviews and manages department schedules to ensure staff is supported and business needs are met.
- Ensures coordination of orders, including special allergies and specialty amenities.
- Supports and sometimes creates event-specific functions for groups or meetings, which may involve menu planning and room configuration.
- Manages vendor relationships and communication.
- Ensures food sanitation codes and health department standards are consistently met.
- Responds swiftly and effectively in any emergency or safety-related situation.
- Effectively manages systems and processes to handle guest requests, concerns, and complaints, ensuring timely and appropriate resolutions.
- Attends all required leadership meetings (labor, resume, budget) as determined by the Food and Beverage Manager, and handles all inventory reporting.
- Works harmoniously and professionally with co-workers and supervisors.
- May be assigned other duties at the discretion of management.
- As a member of the management team, may support other departments during peak business levels.
Requirements
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, co-workers, and management.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness, and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
- Professional attitude and verbiage in the workplace.
- Comfortable speaking with guests and effectively anticipating guest needs.

- Sets an example for Assistant Managers, employees, and guests.
- Knowledge of POS systems.
- Familiarity with Property Management Systems (PMS), Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Basic financial skills, including budget, forecast, and labor projections.
- Ability to interpret and utilize basic business data.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (AM, PM, Overnight, Weekends & Holidays).
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent vocational training (desirable).
- Three to five years’ experience in a similar role.
- Hotel and luxury property experience (a plus).
- Ability to manage a large, diverse, and unionized workforce (a plus).
Physical Requirements
- Lifting/Pushing/Pulling/Carrying: 50% of the shift (lifting trays, moving carts, dollies, or trash cans).
- Bending/Kneeling: 25% of the shift (reaching items stored in cabinets and minibars).
- Climbing: 5% of shift (stairs and ladders).
- Mobility: 100% of the shift (walking several hundred feet at a time, standing, bending, or kneeling periodically).
- Continuous Standing: Standing while waiting for guests to arrive.
- Must be able to see the physical condition of designated areas.
- Must be able to read, write orders, and use a point-of-sale system.
- Ability to work with cleaning agents 15% of the shift.
- Protective Clothing: May wear gloves when cleaning.
- One-on-one communication with guests, managers, and fellow employees.
- Must be able to read and generate reports, guest correspondence, and computer screens.
Work environment: 90% inside on property, 10% outside on property.
