Assistant Health Services Administrator

NaphCare is seeking a motivated and inspiring Assistant Health Services Administrator (AHSA) to join our team of medical professionals at the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, NV.

About the Role

As the Assistant Health Services Administrator (AHSA), you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals within a controlled environment, where security is a top priority, to ensure the medical department is well-managed and staff meet NaphCare policies, guidelines, and expectations.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily oversight of clinical operations, including medical, mental health, dental, and allied health services for residents.
• Make clinical rounds, manage nursing services, and ensure nursing staff are responsive to patients in care.
• Supervise, coach, and troubleshoot with staff to support the team and create a cohesive work environment.
• Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, record-keeping, assisting with budgets, financial reports, planning, forecasting, and developing corrective action plans to ensure contractual obligations are met.
• Assure clinical quality standards and expectations are set and monitored through a clinical performance and review process.
• Facilitate staff training and development activities, including coordinating in-service training for jail staff.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards, regulatory requirements, and legally mandated training for nursing services.

Requirements

• Hold a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within NV.
• Possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association required).
• Two years’ experience in health services administration related to comprehensive medical, dental, and mental healthcare services within a correctional healthcare or acute care setting.
• Ability to manage budgets, analyze contracts, and manage complex staffing matrices between medical and mental health teams.
• Excellent communication skills with proven experience leading, managing, and coaching medical staff through complex Human Resource issues and challenges.
• Knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, and applicable healthcare laws, regulations, and procedures for direct healthcare services.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
• Display integrity, professionalism, and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, and walk significant distances.
• Perform physically demanding tasks like CPR while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.

Pay

Pay rates range from $52.11 to $55.00 per hour.
