About the role

The Assistant Director position within Health and Human Services is responsible for providing administrative leadership and supervision to staff and supervisors, developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives, directing program planning, implementation, and evaluation, supporting accreditation and certification activities, managing budgets, administering and monitoring contracts, interpreting laws and regulations, preparing reports, evaluating programs, supporting strategic planning, coordinating services and initiatives, leading technology and process improvement initiatives, and acting on behalf of the Director during absences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative leadership and supervision to Health and Human Services staff and supervisors
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives and performance management activities
  • Direct the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Health and Human Services programs
  • Support accreditation, certification, and continuous quality improvement activities required by state and federal laws, regulations, and applicable program standards
  • Develop, recommend, and manage budgets for multiple programs
  • Develop, administer, and monitor contracts
  • Interpret laws, rules, regulations, and policies
  • Prepare reports and evaluate programs for efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance
  • Support strategic planning and organizational development efforts
  • Cookordinate services and initiatives across divisions, departments, and community partners
  • Lead the implementation of technology and process improvement initiatives
  • Support emergency preparedness and response activities
  • Act on behalf of the Health and Human Services Director in the Director's absence

Requirements

Requirements include a Master's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, with at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in health care administration, human services, or a related field, including experience in program development, budget management, contract administration, and performance management. Experience in public sector administration, community health, and/or emergency preparedness is preferred.

Qualifications

Qualifications include strong leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and program standards is also required.
