The Industry Extension Services unit is a major component of the State’s economic development operation by diffusing engineering, science, knowledge, and technology to North Carolina industry, business, and public agencies for the enhancement of quality, productivity, and environmental protection. This is accomplished by utilizing professional education and technical assistance that meet the needs of business, industry, and healthcare professionals. Advocating the use of engineering science and technology through best practices promotes corporate growth and the creation of quality products and services.

Responsibilities

• Award Management & Grant Reporting: Manage sponsored projects by monitoring financial activity, expenditures, budgets, and projections; provide timely financial information and guidance to project teams to support informed decision-making and mitigate financial risk.
• Apply accounting principles, sponsor requirements, and university policies to budgeting, forecasting, personnel expenses, cost allocations, expenditures, and other sponsored project fiscal activities.
• Conduct regular financial reviews with project teams to assess spending, forecast future needs, identify potential issues, and recommend corrective actions to keep projects financially and operationally on track.
• Coordinate award modifications and required approvals by preparing project modification requests, including rebudgeting, no-cost extensions, changes in principal investigator, equipment purchases, travel, pre-award costs, and other university or sponsor actions.
