Assistant Golf Professional
North Shore Country Club is seeking an enthusiastic, service-oriented, and motivated Assistant Golf Professional to join our Golf Professional Staff beginning in the fall of 2026. This individual will play an important role in delivering an exceptional golf experience to members and their guests, assisting with day-to-day operations including member service, tournament operations, golf shop, instruction, merchandising, outside operations, and player development.
Responsibilities
- Member & Guest Service
- Provide exceptional, personalized service to members and guests at all times.
- Build positive relationships with members and become familiar with their preferences and needs.
- Assist members with tee times, golf shop purchases, tournament registration, handicapping questions, and general golf-related inquiries.
- Maintain a professional, welcoming, and service-focused presence throughout the golf operation.
- Assist in creating an environment that reflects the standards and traditions of North Shore Country Club.
- Golf Operations
- Assist the Director of Golf Operations and professional staff with the daily operation of the golf department.
- Assist with tee sheet management and daily play.
- Communicate effectively with the golf team, outside services team, golf course maintenance staff, and other club departments.
- Help ensure proper pace of play and an enjoyable experience on the golf course.
- Assist with bag storage, cart operations, practice facilities, and outside services when necessary.
- Tournament & Event Operations
- Assist in the planning, organization, and execution of member tournaments, leagues, outings, and special golf events.
- Help prepare tournament materials, pairings, scorecards, cart signs, starting assignments, scoring, and results.
- Provide on-course support during tournaments and special events.
- Assist with Golf Genius.
- Help ensure tournaments and events are organized, professional, and enjoyable for all participants.
- Golf Instruction & Player Development
- Provide individual and group golf instruction.
- Assist with junior golf programming, clinics, camps, and other player-development initiatives.
- Support instructional programs for men, women, juniors, and beginning golfers.
- Golf Shop & Merchandising
- Assist with daily golf shop operations and point-of-sale transactions.
- Maintain an organized, attractive, and professional golf shop environment.
- Assist with receiving, displaying, pricing, and maintaining merchandise.
- Develop product knowledge and assist members with merchandise selections.
- Support inventory management and periodic physical inventories.
- Assist with special orders and member requests.
- Professional Development
- Pursue continued education and professional development within the golf industry.
- PGA membership or progress toward PGA membership.
- Participate in educational opportunities, section events, and professional activities when appropriate.
- Develop skills in tournament administration, instruction, merchandising, club operations, and member service.
- Demonstrate an interest in advancing toward increased responsibility within the golf profession.
Requirements
- Previous golf operations at private club experience preferred.
- PGA Associate status or interest in pursuing PGA membership.
- Strong knowledge of the game of golf, golf etiquette, and the Rules of Golf.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong commitment to providing outstanding member and guest service.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Experience with Golf Genius and Club Essentials, or similar golf/club management systems is beneficial.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays during the golf season.
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift and carry golf bags, merchandise, tournament supplies, and other items associated with golf operations. The position includes both indoor and outdoor responsibilities and may require working in varying weather conditions.

North Shore Country Club is a very active, family-oriented private club located 15 minutes north of downtown Milwaukee and a few miles from Lake Michigan. With 27 Championship holes, fantastic tennis and pool programming for all ages, and a renovated clubhouse bar and new outdoor dining opened in 2024, North Shore has positioned itself as one of the top facilities in the area. The Assistant Golf Professional will have the opportunity to work closely with an experienced professional staff, develop relationships with the membership, and gain hands-on experience in the many areas required to successfully operate a premier private club golf program.
