Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

About the role

This position assists the Golf Course Superintendent in managing the technical aspects of the golf course, including maintenance, playing conditions, and daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Schedules, assigns, and supervises daily tasks for the maintenance crew.
• Maintains turf health, soil moisture levels, and pest pressures.
• Calibrates, mixes, and applies fertilizers and pesticides safely and according to regulations.
• Operates and repairs the golf course irrigation system.
• Trains staff on equipment operation and safety protocols.
• Assists with special projects like drainage installation and landscape renovations.
• Maintains a clean and organized maintenance facility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
• Two to three years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, preferably with leadership experience.
• A valid driver's license.
• A Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License (Ornamental and Turf) or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of turfgrass management tools, methods, and practices.
• Experience with safe chemical and fertilizer handling, mixing, and application.
• Familiarity with golf course irrigation systems and troubleshooting.
• Leadership and motivational skills.
