Assistant Golf Coach

About the Role

Assistant coaches play a critical role in supporting the head coach in the development of a positive program that ensures students have a safe, enriching experience that helps prepare them for postsecondary success. Our coaches are a central part of improving student success for ALL students. Competitive sports provide an opportunity for students to develop confidence, leadership skills, goal setting, and time management—which support students' engagement and academic achievement in school.

Responsibilities

  • Support the head coach in delivering a positive, enriching volleyball program for 9th–12th grade students.
  • Maintain accurate and reliable records and data related to the program.
  • Collaborate with staff, students, and families through interpersonal communication (in person, phone, email).
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making during practices and games.
  • Relate to students of differing athletic abilities while maintaining composure and professionalism.
  • Meet punctuality and attendance expectations for practices and games.
  • Adhere to the rules and regulations of the sport and the requirements of the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA), including attending required clinics and training.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or completion of a graduation equivalency program (GED).
  • 19 years of age or older.
  • Knowledgeable of volleyball rules and regulations, as well as WIAA requirements.
  • Possess or ability to obtain a first aid certificate, in-person CPR card, and AED training as required.
  • Successful experience or demonstrated knowledge of effective coaching practices and techniques for volleyball.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Fingerprints and background check required.

Qualifications

  • Successful experience or demonstrated commitment toward working with culturally and racially diverse students, families, and communities.
  • Ability and desire to relate to students of differing athletic abilities.
