Assistant General Manager

About the role

The Talent Shop is working with an upscale, fine dining, farm-to-table restaurant in Staunton, Virginia to find a dynamic, results-driven Assistant General Manager. The Assistant General Manager ensures the smooth and efficient functioning of the organization, aids in strategic planning, and monitors financial performance. The role requires excellent leadership, problem-solving skills, and a strong understanding of business operations. Relocation assistance may be available for qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations and ensure operational efficiency
• Lead and mentor staff to achieve performance goals
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, including budget management
• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Drive customer satisfaction and address escalated issues
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes
• Collaborate with various departments to achieve organizational objectives
• Perform all duties as assigned

Requirements

• Leadership experience in upscale or fine dining restaurant operations
• Strong understanding of daily operations, service standards, and team management
• Financial proficiency including budgeting, cost control, and labor management
• Ability to coach, motivate, and develop high-performing teams
• Proven ability to drive guest satisfaction and resolve service issues
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
• Experience ensuring compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards
• Comfortable working a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays
