Assistant General Manager
Posted 10/21/2026 • Retail Sales Leadership • 515 Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY 11201
About the role
Victra is the largest Verizon authorized retailer in the United States. As an Assistant General Manager, you'll encourage a sales team and create outstanding customer experiences in one of our retail stores. You'll lead a store team — developing the best sales specialists, driving sales targets, managing financials and store merchandising — and create an in-store experience that makes customers feel good about our brand and helps them choose our wireless products and services.
We believe in #Performance #Collaboration #Integrity #Innovation #Celebration. On a typical day, you'll take care of guests and confirm coworkers have what they need, lead by example on the sales floor, coach team members one-on-one, and motivate them to reach the next level of performance. You take personal ownership of both your own sales performance and your team's — your numbers reflect your leadership. You'll also handle daily operational tasks and lead the team when the General Manager is away.
Responsibilities
- Talent Management — Selecting, hiring, and developing the best talent
- Take part in interviewing and hiring decisions for your store
- Provide training and mentoring to deliver outstanding customer experience by handling customer flow and store traffic
- Identify selling skill gaps, then build and implement development plans to help the team meet and exceed sales metrics and quota assignments
- Results Driven — Owning your numbers and the store's commitments
- Take personal ownership of your own individual sales performance on the floor — lead the numbers, don't just manage them
- Take direction from store leader on day-to-day operations while prioritizing to deliver on commitments under pressure
- Keep score daily — track your own performance and your team's key sales metrics every day, and use that scorecard to coach in the moment rather than waiting for a weekly review
- Run store operations – analyze staffing needs, report financial and sales data, handle cash, meet compliance, open trouble tickets with Facilities/Network/IT as needed to ensure store up-time and functionality
- Complete store opening and closing activities
- Share collective responsibility on attaining store targets daily/weekly/monthly
- Customer Focus — Delighting customers through hands-on leadership
- Model the standard Victra Greet on the sales floor — introduce yourself, get the guest's name, and ask what brings them in — and coach your team to deliver it every guest, every time
- Lead your team by resolving customer issues and assisting with customer transactions
- Monitor inventory by restocking shelves with product, maintaining device security, and managing store cleanliness so every guest gets a great in-store experience
- Relationship Building — Earning commitment from your team and peers
- Build reciprocal relationships with your team and fellow store leaders — use honest, compelling communication to earn their commitment and support
- Change Management — Championing improvement in your store
- Champion new merchandising standards and planogram changes as they roll out, leading your team through the change rather than just enforcing it
- Strategic Thinking — Setting goals aligned to the business
- Set and share daily/weekly/monthly goals with sales teams
- Own the store's daily sales strategy alongside the General Manager: translate weekly/monthly goals into a clear plan for each shift, and adjust that plan as the day unfolds
- Inspirational Leadership — Leading through confidence and expertise
- Lead by example on the sales floor, using your product expertise and confidence to influence how your team shows up for every guest
