ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

Responsibilities
- Develop a full understanding of the budget, process, and the P & L of the business.
- Provide strong leadership and support to functional reports.
- Improve the profitability of the business by championing and implementing operational excellence techniques, continuous improvement of processes, and verification metrics.
- Drive business growth and development.
- Live, promote, and hold others accountable for the Million Air standards.
- Ensure department managers and other personnel have the resources (including staff capacity, technology, and training) they need to achieve their goals.
- Foster a teamwork-oriented, high-performance culture that is customer-focused.
- Assist with contract review and negotiation, including hangar leases, city leases, fuel supply, equipment, and vendor contracts.
- Prepare FBO budget, variance reporting, and performance consistent with company goals.
- Develop and ensure necessary controls and procedures for business success, legal compliance, and delivering Million Air’s product.
- Demonstrate strong recruiting skills, ensuring job certification and clear communication.
- Oversee Passenger Service and Ramp Operations (including into-plane fueling, third-party fueling, and ground handling).
- Full accountability to the General Manager for Health & Safety issues, operational, and financial performance.
- Plan resource allocation in each business unit, including staff planning aligned with customer requirements and budget.
- Routine liaison with customer representatives, internal and external customers, and agencies.
- Produce routine reports and support business unit development with accurate and timely project work.
- Lead the station equipment planning cycle.
- Ensure compliance with all internal and external operational and administrative requirements.
- Ensure safe and secure operations in accordance with the highest standards of health, safety, security, and government statutory requirements.
- Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, including coaching, disciplinary actions, and positive recognition.
- Mentor employees for promotional opportunities.
- Work closely with the General Manager and HR department to provide effective training and development programs.
- Hold supervisor/lead teams accountable for timely and effective handling of employee-related issues, focusing on improving performance and professional documentation.
- Ensure compliance with the attendance reliability program, tracking and following up on late employees, sick calls, and no-shows.
- Ensure all employees are properly uniformed and equipped with PPE requirements.
- Ensure all damage and defects to ramp equipment are reported.

Requirements
- Assistant management experience with a nationally or globally recognized brand.
- Ability to interact with senior-level executives.
- Ability to exercise independent direction and judgment and work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

- Experience communicating with customers and employees in person, on the phone, and through radio communications.
- Experience in budgeting and financial management.
- Experience in operational planning and resource allocation.
- Working knowledge of GSE maintenance issues.
- Understanding of the wider airport operational environment.
- Experience and understanding of the commercial issues in aviation.
- Must be able to pass a 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Work Environment
This position operates in a professional environment, which may include exposure to all types of weather conditions and direct contact with both moving and non-moving aircraft.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Possible exposure to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and machinery.
- Outside work in all types of weather conditions.
- Stand to greet customers during verbal exchanges and walk throughout the facility to interact with customers.
Travel
Travel is expected for this position to industry trade shows, sales opportunities, and new location start-ups as required.
Location & Relocation
Candidate will be stationed in Austin, Texas, for 12–24 months for training. After training, the candidate may be required to relocate to any Million Air FBO and transition into a "General Manager" role. Candidates MUST be open to relocation.
