Assistant General Manager

Pay

Compensation range for this role is $70,000–$85,000/year + 10% bonus potential. The final offered salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity.

About the role

As an Assistant General Manager at Cooper’s Hawk, you’ll help lead a high-volume, full-service restaurant that includes a scratch kitchen, retail tasting room, and a thriving Wine Club program. You’ll ensure exceptional shift execution—from the food we serve to the uncompromising hospitality we deliver. You’ll provide leadership and development for both Management and Hourly Team Members, while partnering closely with the General Manager to achieve restaurant goals and grow our vibrant Wine Club Community.

Responsibilities

People Developer

• Centered on growth, mentorship and creating career pathways for all.
• Oversee overall restaurant operations and departments to include Service and Tasting Room.
• Participate in hourly Team Member hiring and onboarding; ensure Team Members have the tools, support and training needed to succeed.
• Foster a growth mindset by creating opportunities for learning, development, and career progression.
• Oversee training for Managers in Development, Lead Restaurant Trainers, and new Team Members.
• Develop and support Restaurant and Kitchen Managers through coaching and mentorship.
• Communicate with clarity, actively listen, and build strong relationships across the team.
• Lead with self-awareness by modeling accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
• Lead all Management and Hourly Team Members as a role model of Cooper's Hawk Values and behaviors.

Master Operator

• Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment for all Team Members.
• Demonstrate sound business acumen by maximizing financial and operational results through effective planning and execution and data-driven decision making.
• Drive disciplined execution through planning, prioritization, and follow-through regarding culinary and service standards while ensuring policies and operating systems are followed.
• Assist with weekly inventory procedures and financial reporting.
• Demonstrate a disciplined use of tools like POS systems, scheduling software, inventory systems, and Microsoft Office to stay organized.
• Conduct weekly inventory audits and support financial reporting.
• Review and approve front-of-house schedules in a timely manner.

Community Cultivator

• Foster collaboration across restaurant teams and lead with open, respectful communication.
• Partner with the General Manager and management team to drive operational success.
• Attend and contribute to Community and leadership meetings.
• Represent Cooper’s Hawk values and create a respectful, positive, and professional work environment.
• Deliver Uncompromising Hospitality by creating memorable Team Member and Guest experiences every shift.
• Champion the Wine Club by inspiring enthusiasm and ensuring Members feel valued.
• Lead change with confidence, helping the team adapt while maintaining focus and performance.
• Model professionalism and passion for culinary excellence while celebrating team successes.

Requirements

• 3–4 years of supervisory experience in a full-service restaurant; scratch kitchen experience preferred.
• Minimum age of 21 years.
• Proven ability to coach and develop leaders through feedback and performance management.
• Adaptability and the ability to lead teams through change.
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills with a passion for delivering Uncompromising Hospitality and developing high-performing teams.
• Results-driven; able to coach team to hit restaurant targets (i.e. Wine Club Community growth) with strong business acumen and financial decision-making skills.
• Ability to read, understand and communicate in English.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Preferred certifications include ServSafe and state/local licensing requirements.
• Maintains a professional image by adhering to guidelines listed in the Team Member Handbook.
• Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, inclusive of weekends and some holidays.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for at least 10 hours per shift.
• Must have the ability to work 50–60 hours per week.
