Assistant General Manager
About the Role
This position involves managing both DIY (Do It Yourself) and DIFM (Do It For Me) customer experiences, achieving sales and service objectives, and overseeing store operations. The Assistant General Manager will handle scheduling, customer service, inventory management, and team leadership in a fast-paced retail environment.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze P&L (Profit and Loss) statements
- Provide GAS3 selling experience for DIY and DIFM customers
- Achieve personal and store sales goals and service objectives
- Manage DIY services including battery installation, testing, and wiper installs
- Maintain high standards of customer service, including handling complaints
- Perform manager-on-duty responsibilities (coaching, floor/phone management, task assignment, safety, and open/close duties)
- Oversee the weekly scheduling process
- Train and execute advanced solutions, project and product quality recommendations
- Source parts from multiple channels, including special orders, FDO, and second sources
- Train and execute all store operational processes, procedures, and diagnostic equipment for DIY services
- Train and execute inventory systems, store equipment, POS, and parts lookup systems
- Hold team members accountable, inspect work quality, and provide constructive feedback
Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10–20 members in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment
- Proven experience managing profitability and demonstrated financial and business acumen
- High school diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree in business or related area preferred)
- ASE P2 certification or ASE-ready equivalent (ASE certification preferred but not required)
- Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel required; PowerPoint preferred)
- Strong communication skills in English (Spanish a plus)
- Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, percentages, and gross profit percentages
- Ability to work varied shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends as needed

Work Environment
- Primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks (e.g., installing batteries and wiper blades)
- Exposure to various weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high places, toxic/caustic chemicals, electrical shock risks, explosives, and vibration
- Moderate noise level in the work environment
Pay
The compensation range for this role is between $21.65 USD and $24.09 USD per hour for new team members. The rate depends on factors such as geographic location, retail experience, automotive knowledge, education, leadership roles, and shift differentials (if applicable). This position is eligible for sales commission based on individual or store performance.
