Assistant General Counsel - Payment - Vice President

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide practical, risk-based legal guidance in the areas of digital credentials; customer authentication; and fraud and scam prevention.
  • Advises product and business leaders on product development, strategy, current and changing legal frameworks, and risk decisions for new and evolving biometric use cases and capabilities.
  • Counsels product leads on discrete, but expanding, areas of customer authentication, including advice on implementation strategy, contracts, and customer communications.
  • Supports initiatives involving emerging technologies and partner-enabled capabilities, including governance approvals and issue escalation.
  • Reviews customer-facing content to ensure clear, accurate, and compliant disclosures and communications.
  • Drafts and updates agreements, disclosures, and terms and conditions to support product development and ongoing operations.
  • Maintains awareness of laws, regulations, enforcement trends, and industry standards impacting covered products and services.
  • Identifies legal and regulatory issues early and escalates material risks with clear options and recommendations.
  • Sums up regulatory developments for stakeholders and translates requirements into actionable product and process changes.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of applicable policies, procedures, and controls.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, And Skills

  • Lawyer qualified to practice in the United States (active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction) with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Background in financial services regulation or supporting another highly regulated business.
  • Proactive problem-solver who is not afraid to explore new technologies and can demonstrate a thoughtful approach to testing and incorporating new tools into a professional environment.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills, with the ability to summarize legal and regulatory developments clearly and concisely for distribution and oral presentation to a non-legal audience.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with the business, corporate functions, and fellow legal and support professionals.
  • A true self-starter with the ability to work independently to manage competing and changing priorities and coordinate among a wide range of internal stakeholders.
  • Comfort in a rapidly changing business environment, and ease in switching subject matters throughout the day.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational and project management skills.
  • A sense of humor.
