We are looking for an experienced legal leader to support a growing industrial services organization in New York, New York. This role will serve as a key advisor to business and facility leadership on commercial matters, regulatory obligations, and operational risk across a broad range of legal issues.

Responsibilities
- Provide legal guidance to operating sites and business leaders on daily matters involving commercial agreements, procurement, customer and vendor arrangements, transportation terms, confidentiality agreements, financing documents, employment-related issues, and other core business activities.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts while developing practical standards, templates, and playbooks that improve consistency and support efficient decision-making.
- Advise on compliance obligations tied to environmental, health, safety, and industry-specific regulations, and support engagement with applicable state, municipal, and federal agencies.
- Partner with senior leadership and internal stakeholders to identify legal exposure, recommend business-focused solutions, and strengthen policies, training, and risk management practices.
- Support corporate transactions and post-acquisition integration efforts, including legal due diligence, governance considerations, and alignment of operational processes.
- Represent the organization in interactions with regulators and industry-related external bodies when legal or compliance matters require direct advocacy or coordination.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that may affect operations and communicate emerging risks or required actions to relevant teams.
- Oversee external law firms and specialty advisors when needed, ensuring high-quality counsel, efficient matter management, and disciplined control of legal spend.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience practicing law as a licensed attorney.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active bar admission in New York; additional bar memberships are an advantage.
- Strong background advising waste management, industrial, manufacturing, or service-based operating companies on legal and commercial matters.
- Proven experience structuring, negotiating, and managing complex contracts, transactions, and strategic business arrangements.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively across executive and operational teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities with sound judgment in a fast-moving business environment.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail, supported by strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with contract lifecycle management tools such as Ironclad and proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience in waste, recycling, organics, or municipal contracting environments is preferred.
