Assistant Foreman
About the role
HMT, LLC is seeking an Assistant Tank Foreman to join their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of heavy steel industry work experience, preferably in the AST industry space. A valid driver's license with a clean record and a personally owned vehicle are required.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all employees are working safely and in a safe environment
- Fulfill all requirements outlined in the HMT Safety Manual, site specific requirements, and customer specific requirements
- Work well with the Tank Foreman to understand the scope of work and bring potential problems and issues to their attention
- Communicate with the Tank Foreman on a regular basis
- Support the Tank Foreman in managing the field crew in the performance of daily tasks
- Ensure work is performed efficiently with regard to manpower, equipment, tools, and consumables
- Comply with all QA/QC requirements including contract drawings and specifications
- Complete all general site paperwork including timesheets, T&M sheets, and purchase orders
- Manage onsite customer relations
- Red-line construction drawings as required for approved scope changes
- Provide sketches of existing customer equipment associated with our scope (platform connections, ladders, catwalks, and any piping)
- Complete any required HMT Data Sheets (roof drain systems, suctions, seal data, etc.)
- Train crew members in the art of tank building and support the Field Tank Foreman in training prospective employees to become Field Foreman
- Maintain a positive attitude with crew members
Qualifications & Education
- A minimum of 2 years of heavy steel industry work experience, preferably in the AST industry space
- A valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record and a personally owned vehicle
- Detail-oriented, excellent organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple jobs concurrently (ability to help support management up to 15 employees)
- Maintain accurate Field Progress Reports
- Able to give clear and concise instructions to multiple employees in the execution of work
- Able to complete all required paperwork associated with safety and QA/QC without assistance
- Possess knowledge of automatic welding and burning equipment
- This includes the ability to run, repair, and train others in the use and operation of this type of equipment
- Able to interpret field and fabrication drawings
- Able to communicate via email and phone
Physical & Mental Requirements
- Regularly stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, climbing, carrying, pushing/pulling, and using repetitive wrist and hand movements
- Lift and/or move objects of up to 50 pounds

- May be required to work in various locations within the U.S., some of which may be subject to extreme temperatures, working in high places, etc.
- May be exposed to temperature changes, wetness, confined spaces, fumes/odors, working with ladder/scaffolds, working with pressurized equipment, high places, hazardous materials, and working alone
- HMT will supply adequate training and equipment to meet the functions of the job
