Assistant Food Service Director

About the role

The Assistant Food Service Director works with the Food Service Director to plan activities associated with running a large food service operation with one or more production kitchens. The Assistant Food Service Director is also responsible for supervising a group of food service workers that are involved with the preparation and distribution of food in the kitchen. You will work onsite inside a jail/correctional facility. You will report to a Food Service Director.

Essential Functions/Main Responsibilities

• Guidance, training, and management of the facility food service operation.
• Hiring, orienting, training, and issuing corrective action (when applicable) to team members.
• Overseeing the appropriate quantities of food are prepared and served according to facility or site plan.
• Maintaining accuracy of inventory in advance preparation of planned menu schedule.
• Maintaining all serving schedules to ensure all food items are served per menu specifications in a safe and appropriate manner according to departmental guidelines.
• Maintaining a sanitary environment following food service and Health Department codes and regulations.
• Responsible for any state or other inspections of food service operation.

What You'll Need

• A High School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Two years of management or supervisory experience in a food service position.
• Three years of experience working in food service.
• ServSafe Certification.
• Experience with purchasing, inventory, ordering and receiving.
• Experience managing and applying kitchen sanitation and safety standards and methods.
• Knowledge of basic accounting and mathematical abilities to complete necessary reports.
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications and with food service management systems.
