Assistant Food Service Director

Confidential 120-bed skilled nursing facility providing physical, occupational, and speech therapy as well as long-term care services in a friendly, professional, and home-like environment.

About the role

The Assistant Director of Food Services reports to the Director of Food Services and assists in planning and supervising activities of the department to provide service to residents, employees, and visitors. The individual also assists in providing technical guidance and administrative direction over food planning, menu formulation, and serving of regular and therapeutic diets.

Responsibilities

• Ensures good quality and the appropriate quantity of food is served in accordance with resident diet plans, company policy, and federal and state requirements.
• Makes sure safety measures regarding employees and food are in place and being followed.
• Ensures regulatory compliance, company standards, and systems are met consistently.
• Assists with the planning and organizing of projects, system changes, and events.
• Participates in employee recruitment and retention, including conducting interviews, new hire orientation, staff training, scheduling, and recognition of employees.
• Creates and modifies job flows for positions in the food service department.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Three or more years of experience in food service management, preferably in a long-term care setting.
• Positive interpersonal and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of therapeutic diets.
• Knowledge of regulatory and sanitation standards.
• ServSafe Certified.
