Assistant Filler Operator

About the role

This is a 2nd shift position, working from 3:15 PM to 1:15 AM. The role involves assisting with the efficient and accurate mixing, blending, and cooking of raw ingredients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Blender Operator(s) with the efficient and accurate processing of finished food grade products
  • Set up and break down equipment as needed
  • Check-in ingredients and match them to the recipe, communicating any discrepancies to the Blender Operator(s), Supervisor/Lead, and expeditor
  • Follow recipes with no deviations and assist with run tests to ensure product meets viscosity and sensory requirements
  • Assist with lifting in various areas and lines
  • Communicate effectively with peers and FSQA to meet quality standards and efficient processing
  • Identify ingredients and operate various types of equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks
  • Attend training and be able to train new staff within the department if needed

Requirements

  • Must be LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) Certified
  • Must be able to safely operate various types of equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks (Plant Certification)
  • Must adhere to all corporate GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), established SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and all Food and Employee Safety policies
  • Must adhere to all Allergen control programs and procedures as applicable
  • Must be able to report suspicious packages, activities, and individuals

Skills

  • Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Written and verbal communication skills (English required)
  • Basic problem-solving skills
  • Basic time management skills
  • Basic organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use PDTs (Datalinks) and Digital HMI Screens/Chart Recorders

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this job include standing, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds (with assistance). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Work Environment

The work environment includes temperatures ranging from >60F in production areas to < 38F in refrigerated areas. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and requires hearing protection.
