Assistant Engineer
About the role
Wood Rodgers, a leading engineering consulting firm based in California, is hiring a roadway design engineer to join our Transportation Department in Las Vegas, NV. We work on a wide variety of projects across many design disciplines, including highways, local roadways, bike trails, pedestrian facilities, and drainage facilities. This is a staffed, hourly, non-exempt position ideal for someone interested in working within a fun, multi-discipline team and taking a lead role in roadway design.
Responsibilities
- Learn and gain valuable experience in all aspects of engineering.
- Prepare engineering analysis, designs, and calculations for roadway systems and other transportation-related structures, including cost estimating.
- Assist with layout and plan preparation alongside other design team members.
- Prepare technical specifications.
- Participate in proposal and report writing.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (required).
- 0 to 5 years of experience performing the essential duties listed above.
- Willingness to learn, grow, innovate, and be mentored.
- Knowledge of Civil Engineering principles and practices.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil3D, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- E.I.T. Certification or ability to obtain it within 6 months.
- Ability to gather, organize, and analyze engineering data.
- Capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of an engineering team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Pay
Compensation for this role ranges from $31.75 to $42.00 per hour. The range may fluctuate based on factors such as experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, training, and location. Base pay is part of a comprehensive compensation package.
