Assistant Electrical Designer

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico or Phoenix, Arizona (on-site)

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Electrical Designer to contribute to a wide range of electrical design and drafting activities across diverse project types. You will help produce accurate design deliverables, support project documentation, and work collaboratively within a multi-discipline environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, report preparation, specifications, and electrical plans.
• Prepare engineering drawings from sketches, verbal instructions, notes, and mark-ups using CAD software.
• Support electrical design work including schematics, grid plan layouts, power systems, lighting systems, protection and controls, and site and facility design.
• Organize and maintain project drawings, revisions, plot files, and related information in a clear and structured manner.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in drafting technology or a related field and 2 years of related experience, or an associate degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or high school diploma and a minimum of 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
• Must be able to work on-site in either the Albuquerque, NM office or the Phoenix, AZ office.
• Willingness to travel 25%.
• Legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without time limitations, restrictions, or the need for work sponsorship.

Skills

• Experience with CAD and some experience in GIS (preferred).
• Strong understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel.
• Ability to learn and use new design software programs effectively.
