Responsibilities
- Manage and provide engineering leadership to Maintenance and Construction Operations in areas such as Snow and Ice Removal Operations, Pavement Repair, Drainage Maintenance, Traffic Safety Device Maintenance, Landscape/Roadside Maintenance, Equipment Coordination, Utilization, Purchasing and Maintenance, Traffic Maintenance Services, Roadway Regulations, Facilities Maintenance, Contract Construction Administration, and Preservation and Reconditioning Project Contract Preparation.
- Provide leadership, management, and direction to State and District Maintenance and Construction Sections to accomplish programs and meet constituent needs.
Requirements
- Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID).
- At least five (5) years of professional post-registration engineering experience, with at least three (3) years at the Engineer Principal level or higher.
- Considerable leadership skills and experience leading and managing agency initiatives, developing innovative solutions, and motivating others.
- Strong fiscal management experience with large, complex budgets, including resource allocation.
- Extensive knowledge of engineering principles, Minnesota’s construction industry, transportation industry technology, and MnDOT’s policies and programs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong negotiation and conflict management abilities.
Qualifications
To qualify, Engineer Senior Administrative applicants must meet all the following:
- Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID).
- (If obtaining licensure through Comity, a temporary permit from AELSLAGID must be provided to MnDOT HR prior to starting employment).
- At least five (5) years of professional post-registration engineering experience of which at least three (3) years must be at the Engineer Principal level or higher.
- A written summary of knowledge and experience in leadership, fiscal management, technical knowledge, communications/human relations, and reference/background checks.
