About the Role
The primary function of an assistant dispatcher is to work in conjunction with the Dispatcher/Operations Manager to direct and coordinate the ordering and delivery of materials to customers in day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
- Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements and enforce adherence to requirements.
- Complete warehouse/delivery requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
- Coordinate with personnel to ensure customer service meets acceptable standards and generates positive feedback.
- Ensure compliance with the Safety and Loss Control Program.
- Cooperate with Safety Director and GMS Risk Management representatives in investigating and analyzing potential hazards to enforce methods and reduce losses or claims.
Requirements
- GED required; some college preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of dispatching experience.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 60% of the time.

Pay
The base salary for this position typically falls within the range of $20.00 to $25.00 per hour. Starting wage may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, education, training, and experience.
