About the role
The Assistant Director of Talks will lead and direct world-class programming. This role will be responsible for developing and cultivating Collective by 92NY and working across the organization to expand the program’s outreach. This position will lead the new branding and membership model for this demographic, identify, develop and execute networking receptions and live events and work closely to satisfy sponsorship opportunities. Additionally, the Assistant Director will develop digital content from the live events to further brand awareness.
Responsibilities
- Identify, research, and propose new concept areas to grow and enrich Talks and other 92NY programming with a focus on attracting and retaining new/younger audiences.
- Expand and enhance the membership model by scaling the program across departments throughout the organization.
- Cultivate, organize and lead receptions and social networking events to engage the members and build the membership community.
- Facilitate relationships with guest speakers, moderators, publishers, agents, manage and cultivate talent.
- Book/program events and develop a strategic plan with metrics to gauge audience growth and development.
- Work with sponsorship to steward relationships to support Collective by 92NY.
- Ensure the efficient operation of the 92NY Talks office in collaboration with the Program Assistant, to manage event logistics and oversee office workflow and assignments.
- Coordinate program logistics and requirements including security and customer care.
- Support other team members in producing both online events and in-person Talks.
- Create digital content to drive brand awareness and increase engagement.
- Oversee the timely submission, approval, and payment of vendor invoices.
- Serve as department liaison with the marketing and web departments for the posting of Talks on our website and meeting departmental deadlines.
- Manage events from conception to completion, as required, including troubleshooting any issues that occur before, during or after the event.
- Oversee book sales at events, when required.
- Supervise signed releases and communicate any changes needed, in a timely manner, to the legal department.
- Aid in the training of the Program Assistant to maintain office functioning.
- May be assigned other tasks and duties reasonably related to their job responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or comparable work experience within live events, online events, and program management arena.
- 5 + years’ experience of designing and delivering successful events, both online and live.
- Proven ability to manage detailed projects from conception through to delivery and evaluation.
- Highly motivated to create new content to capture a more diverse audience.
- Must have Zoom and social media proficiency to promote upcoming events.
- Excellent research and presentation skills accompanied by strong interpersonal skills.
- Candidates should possess strong diplomatic ability.
- Familiarity with the interests of the target demographic audience.
- An “idea” person, a trendsetter, and creative thinker to formulate new program pitches.
- Well-read and intellectually curious, with varied interests pertaining to the world of Talks politics, film, contemporary culture, television, art, music.
- Demonstrated experience in working on simultaneous, multiple, projects.
- Energetic, positive, “can do” attitude able to collaborate with various team members.
Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in live events, online events, and program management.
