Job Summary

The Assistant Director, Student CARE & Support is a contributor to the Office of the Dean of Students at Bucknell University. The Assistant Director plays a vital role in providing a safe, consistent environment that is conducive to learning. The Assistant Director supports the University student Campus Assessment, Response & Evaluation (CARE) & Student Outreach & Support (SOS) programs by assisting students of concern, assessing potential risks to campus safety, and determining appropriate courses of action.

What You Will Do

  • Case Management: Manage as assigned SOS & CARE caseload, including review of incoming reports, confirming and updating concern type, student outreach, implementation of intervention strategy, and advise students of campus resources and support.
  • Attend the weekly case management meeting with the SOS Leads/CDs as requested by the Associate Director, Care & Support. Assist with weekly agenda for CARE & SOS meetings.
  • Academic Flexibility: The position involves supporting Academic Flexibility Requests through collaborating with the Associate Dean, Health & Wellness. This includes requesting documentation, communicating with students to support review requests, consulting on the submitted information, supporting the request outcome and documenting all action.
  • Training & Professional Development: In collaboration with the Associate Director, CARE & Support, provide training for student staff (RA, PA, JF, RF, etc.) in SOS and CARE processes, the resources available to them, and share opportunities for student staff members to engage with CARE & Support. Assist with training professional staff members as SOS Leads to provide support through SOS cases. Assist with the training and collaborate with staff to share resources offered through CARE & Support. Assist with the development and updates to training materials including slide decks, click throughs, case flow documents and all associated print and digital forms and documents.
  • Outreach & Communication: Serve as a resource for Student CARE & SOS, consult with a broad cross-section of institution and community stakeholders including, but not limited to faculty, Public Safety, Housing & Residential Life, Student Life and Title IX. Connect with reporters to confirm their report was received and support is being offered to student(s) of concern. Communicate with campus partners, faculty, staff, community members and students to share needed information, to advocate for students, and to build rapport with the campus community.
  • Data Management, Technology Optimization & Communications: Support the management of Maxient CMS and works to improve the efficiency and effectiveness by utilizing available technology. Engage in the routine review of system users, access levels and reporting forms. Support case analysis and monthly, semester and annual reporting. Engage in data review to support data informed decisions regarding student experience, service gaps and successes, campus trends and strategy to identify education and outreach to students and campus partners.

Required

  • Masters Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Justice, Higher Education, Social Work or related field.
  • Two (2) or more years of related work experience.
  • Four (4) or more years of work experience in case management, incident management or related field.
  • Experience with Maxient CMS or similar CMS.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in an office setting, with or without accommodations, to include: sitting, standing, and moving about the office and campus.
