Assistant Director, Risk Management - Risk Management - FT Days

About the role

Working with the Director, the incumbent manages healthcare risk management operations to achieve quality and productivity objectives. Develops goals and objectives and contributes to strategic long range planning. Responsible for the development and administration of a systematic program designed to reduce risk and injury.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and advises on trends of professional, employment and comprehensive general liability claims experience to the administrative and medical staff.
• Makes recommendations concerning professional conduct, standards of care and facility operation to reduce exposure to liability and insurance claims.
• Represents the organization in litigation and non-litigated matters and coordinates with attorneys, third party administrators and UC Office of the President.

Requirements

• Strong data analysis experience
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
• Demonstrated experience to problem solve and provide leadership through a consultative role
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to interact with faculty and staff of all disciplines across the organization
• Ability to coordinate multiple assignments and projects
• Ability to consult on complex risk and legal issues

Qualifications

• Minimum two years in a risk management supervisory role
• Minimum three years experience in the field of health care risk management
• Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, Business or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education

Skills

• Legal or paralegal training (CPHRM)
• Experience working within the University of California System
