Pay
Hiring range: $56,000 - $62,500
About the Role
The Assistant Director of the Office of International Students and Scholars serves as the international student adviser to all UNCW F-1 degree-seeking international students. This position involves working with international students to initiate visa sponsorship, manage I-20 applications, and advise on visa procedures.
Responsibilities
- Manage Terra Dotta and related software (Banner, Slate, Excel) for F-1 students
- Advise students on immigration and personal matters
- Complete SEVIS updates
- Run workshops on topics such as OPT/CPT and maintaining legal status
- Liaise with faculty and staff
- Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) in SEVIS
- Assist with international student orientations and events
- Occasionally work nights and weekends
- Domestic and international travel as required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Must be a U.S. citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (required by federal regulations)
- At least two years of experience in student advising, immigration advising, program coordination, and/or international admissions
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
- Demonstrated international knowledge and sensitivity
- Able to plan and manage time effectively
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Student advising experience
- Knowledge of SEVIS and F or J regulations
- Proficiency in a language in addition to English
