About the role

The Assistant Director of Performance Nutrition will provide comprehensive nutrition support for University of Houston student athletes, including programming, education, counseling, and fueling strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Program and deliver nutrition support for assigned teams.
  • Provide education and resources to student athletes, including team-specific sessions for each designated sport.
  • Conduct individual athlete counseling.
  • Coordinate and develop nutrition education initiatives and materials using various platforms.
  • Perform and assess body composition analysis using DEXA and InBody technologies.
  • Manage team pre-, mid-, and post-game fueling for home and away events.
  • Oversee purchasing and inventory for fueling stations.
  • Collaborate with on-campus catering to provide team meals and snacks.
  • Maintain understanding of NCAA, Big 12, and State of Texas rules and regulations.
  • Apply knowledge of medical nutrition therapy to provide appropriate interventions for student athletes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Performance Nutrition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Registered Dietitian credential, applicable for licensure in Texas.
  • 2–3 years of full-time experience in sports nutrition.
  • Ability to work a non-standard work week, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with athlete eating disorder/disordered eating cases.
  • Member of the Academy of Sports Performance Dietitians (ASPDA).

Pay

Estimated salary range: $60,000 annually.
