About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as the Assistant Director of Nursing Services (ADNS) and Infection Control Nurse. This dual role combines leadership in nursing administration with infection prevention, supporting our commitment to high-quality care in compliance with state and federal guidelines. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and passionate about fostering a safe, healthy environment for residents and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Infection Control Duties
    • Oversee the facility’s infection prevention and control program, ensuring adherence to protocols and compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Monitor and report infection data, conduct routine surveillance, and implement preventive measures in collaboration with the clinical team.
    • Provide ongoing infection control education to staff, including training on current protocols, PPE usage, and best practices.
    • Conduct audits and review data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Wound Care Duties
    • Manage and monitor all aspects of wound care for residents, including assessments, treatments, and documentation.
    • Develop individualized wound care plans in collaboration with the clinical team to ensure evidence-based treatment and prevention.
    • Train and educate nursing staff on wound care best practices, protocols, and preventive care.
    • Conduct regular audits of wound care documentation and processes to maintain quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Assistant Director of Nursing (ADNS) Duties
    • Assist the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) in daily clinical operations and management of the nursing team.
    • Act as a resource for nursing staff, offering guidance, training, and support in clinical practices and resident care.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, maintain accurate records, and facilitate quality assurance initiatives.
    • Serve as acting DNS in the absence of the DNS to ensure continuity of care and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted RN license in Connecticut.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in long-term care, with a strong background in infection control, wound care, and/or nursing leadership.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, infection control, and wound care documentation software.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, with a detail-oriented and proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) and/or Wound Care (WCC) preferred, or willingness to obtain within one year of hire.
