The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON – LPN) supports the leadership, training, and supervision of the nursing department to ensure quality resident care and compliance with state, federal, and Americare standards. This role also assists in the administration of the nursing program, providing clinical guidance to staff, and collaborating with medical staff, department heads, and administrators.

About the role

  • Assists the Director of Nursing with training, supervision, and development of nursing staff
  • Serves as a key partner to nursing leadership by advising on matters related to nursing services, resident care, and daily operations
  • Supports the administration of the nursing program to maintain quality standards of resident care
  • Collaborates with medical staff, department heads, and administrators on matters related to nursing services
  • Assists with implementing and maintaining nursing policies, procedures, and standards of care
  • Supports resident assessments, care planning, documentation, and monitoring of changes in condition
  • Assists with medication systems in accordance with state regulations and pharmaceutical guidelines
  • Participates in quality assurance activities, audits, and survey readiness
  • Promotes a safe, respectful, and home-like environment for residents

Responsibilities

  • Supports the administration of the nursing program to maintain quality standards of resident care
  • Provides clinical guidance and support to nursing staff, including LPNs, CNAs, CMAs, and other care team members
  • Collaborates with medical staff, department heads, and administrators on matters related to nursing services
  • Supports resident assessments, care planning, documentation, and monitoring of changes in condition
  • Assists with medication systems in accordance with state regulations and pharmaceutical guidelines
  • Participates in quality assurance activities, audits, and survey readiness
  • Promotes a safe, respectful, and home-like environment for residents

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required
  • Maintains current state registration and required continuing education
  • Basic knowledge of nursing home or assisted living principles, methods, and procedures
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medications, and narcotic protocols
  • Prior experience in skilled nursing, assisted living, or long-term care preferred
