About the role
The Assistant Director provides leadership for Columbia Health’s infection prevention program, setting and advancing an agenda for infection prevention and related public health issues while ensuring compliance with state, federal, accrediting, and regulatory requirements. The incumbent assesses and treats actual or potential health problems related to emerging infections and outbreaks, manages annual immunization/TB requirements for clinical students, oversees employee Fit Testing, TB screening, vaccinations, and health clearances, and leads the annual flu immunization program.
Responsibilities
- Lead Columbia Health’s infection prevention program and advance its public-health agenda
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, accrediting, and regulatory requirements
- Assess and treat health problems related to emerging infections and outbreaks
- Manage annual immunization and TB requirements for clinical students
- Oversee employee Fit Testing, TB screening, vaccinations, and health clearances
- Lead the annual flu immunization program
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and current NYS RN license
- BLS and infection control certification
- Minimum 4 years of directly related experience
- Knowledge of OSHA and public health mandates related to immunization compliance
- Strong EHR skills
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Master’s degree in Nursing or Public Health
- College health experience
- CBIC Infection Control certification
- Experience with DOH reporting, case management, and contact tracing
