About the role
Rockaway Care Center, a 228‑bed nursing facility in Far Rockaway, NY with a 20‑bed ventilator unit and five nursing units, is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing to support the Director of Nursing in managing the nursing department, ensuring quality of care, compliance, and effective communication across all nursing staff levels.
Responsibilities
- Assist the DNS with management responsibilities and maintaining quality of care for patients
- Assist with compliance and ensure effective communication with all levels of nursing staff
- Assist with the nursing needs of residents as needed
- Assist DNS with on‑call rotation
- Assist with interviewing, hiring and orienting new staff
- Complete Accident & Incident Reports and Summaries
- Work with Social Work in grievance investigations for the nursing department
- Oversee Infection Control Program
- Assist with auditing and QAPI as necessary
- Implement physicians’ orders; administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures and special tests and document treatment as required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations as needed
- Oversee Nursing department in Director of Nursing absence
Qualifications
- Current New York State RN license
- Minimum Associates Degree
- Minimum 2 years experience in a long‑term care setting
- Minimum 1 year management experience preferred
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Flexible hours as needed
