About the role

The IAFF Center of Excellence exists to care for first responders who have responded to trauma, crisis, and emergencies. We are seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (RN) to lead our nursing team at our premier behavioral health treatment center.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day nursing operations and staffing coordination
  • Aid in admissions, discharges, transfers, and continuity of care
  • Ensure safe staffing coverage and operational readiness
  • Support nursing leadership during emergencies or critical situations
  • Step into the Director of Nursing role when needed
  • Conduct infection control and nursing compliance audits
  • Maintain medication management processes and regulatory compliance
  • Support quality assurance initiatives and nursing procedure reviews
  • Track labs, outside consultations, and medical transfers
  • Partner with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and compassion
  • Interact directly with patients to ensure high-quality care experiences
  • Create a therapeutic, respectful, and healing environment
  • Support specialized recovery programming, including the Vivitrol program

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, licensed as a Registered Nurse as indicated in State law, higher education preferred
  • Minimum two years' experience as a Licensed Registered Nurse. Behavioral health experience preferred
  • Licensed to practice in the State of practice

Skills

  • Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, detox, or psychiatric nursing
  • Excellent clinical judgment and organizational skills

  • Strong communication and leadership abilities
  • Calmness and compassion for individuals navigating recovery and mental health challenges
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to team success

Pay

Competitive pay based on experience

Schedule

Up to 2 weeks of paid time off per year plus sick pay & holiday pay
