The Assistant Director of Juvenile Probation is a full-time, on-site role located in Vernon Hills, IL, responsible for supporting the leadership and operations of juvenile probation services. This role typically oversees probation staff, assists with case assignments, and ensures that policies and procedures align with court standards and legal requirements. The position involves monitoring program effectiveness, reviewing case plans, and collaborating with judges, attorneys, community partners, and service providers to promote positive outcomes for youth. The Assistant Director may participate in training and mentoring probation officers, contribute to data reporting and performance improvement initiatives, and help develop strategies that support rehabilitation, accountability, and community safety. Regular tasks include attending meetings, preparing administrative reports, addressing operational issues, and ensuring services are delivered in a fair, equitable, and trauma-informed manner.
Responsibilities

Qualifications
- Experience in juvenile justice, probation services, or related fields such as social work, criminal justice, or youth services
- Skills in leadership, team supervision, staff development, and performance management
- Strong abilities in case management, program coordination, and service delivery for youth and families
- Knowledge of court procedures, legal requirements, and evidence-based practices in juvenile rehabilitation
- Proficiency in communication, conflict resolution, and collaboration with multidisciplinary stakeholders
- Competence in data collection, reporting, and use of technology and case management systems to support decision-making
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, psychology, public administration, or a related field; advanced degree is preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, cultural responsiveness, and ethical practice in working with diverse communities
- Ability to work on-site in Vernon Hills, IL, manage multiple priorities, and maintain confidentiality and professional judgment
