About the Role
We’re looking for an Assistant Director of Engineering to lead our Sales, Service & Insights product team in Principal Asset Management. In this role, you’ll lead global Salesforce strategy and engineering efforts that directly enable our client facing teams and drive business growth across Principal’s go-to-market capabilities.
Responsibilities
Lead global Salesforce strategy and engineering efforts that directly enable our client facing teams and drive business growth across Principal’s go-to-market capabilities.
Partner with Product, delivery, and business leaders (distribution sales, client service, and internal stakeholders) to define and execute CRM and go-to-market strategies, including innovation in AI and data-driven insights.
Guide and influence cross-functional global teams to deliver scalable, client-facing CRM and go-to-market solutions that enhance sales pipelines and client experience.
Foster strong partnerships with data analytics leaders to innovate on using AI and machine learning and build out capabilities that enable efficiency and data driven decision-making.
Influence across product and business leaders to drive alignment, prioritize initiatives, and deliver outcomes.
Build and sustain a high-performing, collaborative engineering culture grounded in accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (preference in a computer science, technology, engineering or math-related field) or equivalent experience
8+ years of enterprise-level technical experience, demonstrating progressive responsibility and impact
Formal people leadership experience, coaching talent, and building build a culture of accountability and collaboration
Strong background in client-facing CRM platforms
Proven ability to influence across teams and leaders in a highly matrixed environment
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to connect technical delivery to business outcomes
Comfortable operating in a global environment and navigating complexity, ambiguity, and competing priorities

Experience in financial services, with the ability to navigate complex client, product, and regulatory environments
Experience leading globally distributed engineering teams
Experience integrating AI, data, and analytics capabilities into CRM ecosystems

Salary Range Information: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance.
Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.
Salary Range (Non-Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly): $145000 - $183000 / year
Work Environments: This role offers an in-office and hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek) work arrangement in Des Moines, IA, Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC, Chicago, IL or New York, NY.
