Assistant Director of Education and Public Programming (Frost Art Museum)

About the role

Provides dynamic leadership and assumes responsibility for the full range of the museum's educational programs and strategies. Collaborates across departments to plan and implement educational initiatives that reflect the highest standards of intellectual rigor and stewardship. Leads and strengthens engagement with FIU faculty and students while working collaboratively to develop and plan educational programs for all audiences.

Responsibilities

• Direct and support the Education department's efforts in developing interpretive programs and materials for all museum publics.
• Position the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum’s exclusive education programs and expand new models for museum learning.
• Manage all organizational aspects (logistics, travel, payment, attendee registration, etc.) and development of related collateral and press materials for programs.
• Oversee and manage the development and realization of innovative programs, partnerships, and alliances to encourage collaboration with students and faculty, increasing utilization of the museum’s collections in academic programs.
• Participate in the exhibition development process, working closely with curatorial and design teams to develop interpretative and educational materials.
• Develop and oversee budgets for programs; negotiate contracts with outside contractors and identify grant opportunities.
• Serve as a University card user for departmental transactions, adhering to University credit card policies.
• Lead and manage student and academic engagement programs to increase student participation and faculty utilization of the museum.
• Oversee student interns and volunteers.
• Collaborate with the Director, Curator, and Development team to plan and coordinate educational programs, tours, and special events aligned with the museum’s mission and audience engagement goals.
• Oversee and coordinate teaching artists, presenters, and contracted vendors, managing scheduling, communication, documentation, contracting, payment, and logistics.

Requirements

• Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and two years of experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four years of experience.
• Ability to attend off-campus meetings and occasional weekend/evening functions.
• Ability to travel locally and nationally.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to travel to FIU locations and campuses.

Qualifications

• State of Florida Professional Educator’s Certification (desired).

Pay

$85,000–$95,000
