About the role
The Assistant Director of Community Counseling Services will serve as a mental health clinician and direct counseling services at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Science’s (SHRS) Wellness Pavilion. This position offers clinical mental health counseling to residents of Homewood and other areas served by the University of Pittsburgh. The role is embedded at the SHRS Wellness Pavilion in Homewood, a facility providing student-led healthcare and educational services to foster community health and well-being.
The successful candidate will deliver counseling services, oversee clinical operations, supervise graduate students, participate in community engagement, and drive quality-improvement initiatives to advance patient outcomes and community health. This clinician will guide graduate students in high-value, patient-centered care and provide services through the partner organization, Primary Care Health Services (PCHS).
Estimated start date: October 1, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and supervision to graduate students delivering counseling services.
- Manage daily operations of the SHRS Wellness Pavilion behavioral health programs, including service coordination, referral screening, and scheduling.
- Conduct clinical assessments and develop individualized intervention and treatment plans.
- Ensure quality assurance and adherence to clinical protocols and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary staff, clinical mental health professionals, and external partners.
- Maintain clinical documentation, data tracking, and utilize Electronic Medical Records (e.g., Medent).
- Support program outreach, training, and community engagement related to counseling services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; combination of education and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of education and/or experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
- Licensure or licensure-eligibility in Pennsylvania as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or licensed psychologist.
- Daily in-person presence at the SHRS Wellness Pavilion in Homewood or PCHS is required.
Schedule
- Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Clearances
The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks are required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment:
- PA State Police Criminal Record Check.
- FBI Criminal Record Check.
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
