Assistant Director of Career Development and Industry Engagement

About the role

The Assistant Director develops and implements college-level career readiness programming and professional development opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students; cultivates employer, industry, alumni, and external partner relationships to enhance internship, co-op, and career placement pipelines; and seeks external partnerships and sponsorship support for student engagement initiatives, career events, and professional development activities. The position works closely with the College of Agriculture External Relations Office, the University Career Center, and the University Corporate Engagement Office to align employer outreach, partnership development, sponsorship opportunities, and student career success initiatives. The role will also supervise the Career and Leadership Development Coordinator and collaborates with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders to support student success and workforce readiness.

Worksite

This position is hybrid eligible with remote work one day a week. All employees must reside in the United States when they begin working to comply with state law. K-State is unable to provide remote or hybrid work opportunities for residents of the state of Idaho.

Requirements

• Minimum: high school diploma (or equivalent) and seven years of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of work experience and education.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to drive to events and lift 25 pounds.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience in career services, employer engagement, student advising, academic support, or a related field.
• Demonstrated success cultivating external partnerships, sponsorships, or employer-supported initiatives.
• Supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver career development programming.
• Familiarity with agricultural industry career pathways.
• Experience working with diverse student populations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with student data systems, career platforms (e.g., Handshake), and assessment tools.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.

Pay

$61,700–$70,500
