Position Details
General Scope of Duties: The Associate Director of the Camel Athletics Network serves as an integral frontline fundraiser and operational coordinator within the Office of College Advancement.
Priorities:
- Frontline Fundraising & Pipeline Management: Manage a portfolio of 120–150 leadership annual giving prospects and leadership-level parent prospects.
- Campaign & Giving Day Project Management: Serve as the primary operational lead for annual athletics giving days and crowdfunding initiatives.
- Targeted Cohort Engagement: Design and execute specialized solicitation and engagement tracks for young alumni student-athletes (0–10 years post-graduation) and current varsity parents.
- Event Strategy & Volunteer Mobilization: Plan and execute regional pre-game tailgates, team alumni games, networking events, and donor hospitality functions.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration & Stewardship: Partner directly with assistant coaches, athletic administrators, and donor relations staff.
- Maintain impeccable data hygiene within the advancement database.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish measurable performance targets, benchmarks, and data-driven timelines for the annual athletic fundraising cycles.
- Translate broader athletic department priorities into clear, compelling donor opportunities.
- Provide resource support and operational reporting metrics to the Director of Development, Vice President for College Advancement, and other field staff.
- Represent the Camel Athletics Network and College Advancement at on- and off-campus events.
- Maintain impeccable data hygiene within the advancement database.
Education and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in higher education fundraising, athletic development, alumni relations, institutional advancement, or a highly transferable sales/relationship management field.
- Philanthropic Track Record: Demonstrated experience or strong aptitude for face-to-face solicitations, with a preferred background in closing leadership annual gifts ($1,000+).
- Communication Expertise: Superior written, verbal, and presentation skills; ability to author highly compelling, authentic solicitation copy tailored to specific sport cultures and diverse multi-generational audiences.
- Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional emotional intelligence and relationship-building abilities, with a proven track record of collaborating across complex institutional boundaries (coaches, faculty, senior administrators, and trustees).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills and familiarity with sophisticated advancement databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce CRM, or similar platform) and digital crowdfunding tools.
- Integrity & Discretion: Uncompromising personal and professional ethics; demonstrated adherence to absolute confidentiality and discretion when handling highly sensitive donor, family, and student-athlete records.
- Operational Agility: Exceptionally organized, results-oriented, and self-motivated, with a proven ability to balance multiple overlapping project deadlines under minimal supervision.
- Affinity: A strong personal or professional appreciation for the value of a liberal arts education and competitive NCAA Division III varsity athletics.
Salary Range
$55,000-$65,000. Note Connecticut College is committed to fair and competitive compensation. The final offer will reflect the candidate’s experience, education, and the institution's pay structure to ensure internal equity.
