Responsibilities
- Assist in the oversight and coordination of nursing services throughout the facility.
- Support the Director of Nursing in maintaining high standards of clinical care and nursing practice.
- Monitor resident care outcomes and ensure timely interventions are implemented.
- Participate in daily clinical rounds and resident care reviews.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to promote quality resident outcomes.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, discharges, and clinical case management as needed.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS and Department of Health requirements.
- Participate in survey readiness activities and support the facility during regulatory surveys.
- Monitor documentation practices to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance.
- Absorb and implement Plans of Correction (POCs) and corrective actions.
Staffing and Workforce Management
- Assist with nursing staffing oversight to ensure adequate coverage and safe staffing levels.
- Monitor attendance, scheduling, overtime utilization, and staffing efficiencies.
- Participate in recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, and retention efforts.
- Provide supervision, coaching, and performance management for nursing staff.
- Participate in employee evaluations, counseling, corrective action, and disciplinary actions as delegated by the Director of Nursing.
Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI)
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement initiatives.
- Monitor quality indicators, clinical metrics, and regulatory outcomes.
- Conduct audits and identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Absorb and assist with implementation of performance improvement plans and staff education initiatives.
Education and Staff Development
- Provide clinical guidance, mentoring, and support to nursing staff.
- Absorb and coordinate orientation programs for new employees.
- Absorb and coordinate ongoing education and competency validation programs.
- Promote professional growth and leadership development among nursing staff.
Incident and Risk Management
- Investigate incidents, accidents, grievances, and complaints involving nursing services.
- Ensure timely reporting, documentation, investigation and follow-up of incidents and reportable events in accordance with facility policy and regulatory requirements.
- Implement corrective actions to reduce risk and improve resident safety.
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response activities.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Serve as the Director of Nursing in their absence, as assigned.
- Attend management meetings, clinical meetings, and committee meetings as assigned.
- Prepare reports, audits, and performance data as requested.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and employee information.
