Assistant Director, Lifelong Learning

An inaugural role supporting and enhancing the operations of the Office of Lifelong Learning, which offers non-degree programming for ages 2 to 102+. Programs include creative movement classes for children (3-10), precollege programs, personal enrichment classes through Sarah Lawrence Extension, a Signature Learning Community for adults 55+, midlife transition programs, educational partnerships with retirement communities, and corporate and professional development programming.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to plan and execute lifelong learning courses and events, ensuring alignment with institutional goals.
  • Manage customer service operations, including student registration, inquiries, and refunds.
  • Source new instructors and provide administrative support to instructors, including onboarding, class logistics, and payroll management.
  • Develop and maintain content on the programs' websites and the course registration system (Thinkific).
  • Facilitate event planning, including speaker arrangements, facilities management, and catering.
  • Monitor program performance, and support the Executive Director in assessing financial outcomes and identifying growth opportunities.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders.
  • Manage general office operations, including supply procurement and technology and logistical support for online and in-person classes.
  • Liaise with the Assistant Director of Lifelong Learning Marketing for marketing needs, including market research, promotional materials, and website updates.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to student assistants, as needed.
  • Represent the College at promotional events.
  • Liaise between the short-term summer program manager and various College staff and faculty for precollege programs.
  • Assist with new program development.
  • Occasional travel for related conferences, festivals, or other events.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in program administration, event management, or a similar role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in higher education or community-based learning environments.
  • Proficiency with content management systems, social media platforms, and event-planning software.
  • An active driver’s license and your own vehicle to travel to local community events.

Pay

$70K – $80K

Schedule

Hybrid role located in Bronxville, NY with occasional evening and weekend hours to support programs and events.
