About the role
Provides leadership and management for student leadership organizations within the residence halls, develops and promotes academic initiatives within the residence halls, strengthens and implements the residential curriculum, and leads assessment efforts for the Department of Housing and Residence Life. This position engages in critical analysis of student and program needs to resolve substantial issues which may span multiple areas, using advanced technical and professional knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of student development theory and current trends/best practices for positively engaging students within a residential curriculum.
- Work with living and learning communities, retention efforts, academic initiatives, assessment efforts, and training programs.
- Make sound decisions under pressure.
- Manage a complex business operation in a dispersed employee environment utilizing best practices, following university and national standards.
- Demonstrate strong administrative, interpersonal, public speaking, and written communication skills.
- Manage multiple tasks and work within a collaborative environment with diverse populations.
- Work with databases such as SPSS; gather, analyze, and interpret data, preferably related to trends and issues in higher education.
- Maintain effective working relationships and apply principles and practices to strategically align tasks and people with organizational goals.
- Develop student and young professional staff with strong administrative skills.
- Manage budgetary responsibilities.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree with 2 years of full-time experience working in student affairs (minimum qualification).
- Master’s Degree with 3 years of full-time experience working in student affairs (preferred qualification).
- Experience supervising staff.
- Experience working with residentially based curriculums and academic initiatives.
- Assessment experience.
