Specialized Contributor Level 3 – A senior-level role requiring broad understanding of the profession or field of work. Independently leads diverse and often complex assignments, projects, or programs. May act as a mentor and guide less experienced staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide career counseling services for students and alumni on topics including choice of major, career direction, occupational information, and developmental concerns related to academic and professional success.
- Conduct career counseling sessions, develop treatment plans, provide clinical services, and maintain counseling records using an electronic records system.
- Coordinate individual client’s career counseling services, including consultation with program coordinators, referral to university and community resources, follow-up, and case disposition.
- Administer and interpret interest and personality assessments in individual and group settings following accepted practice.
- Assist in the development and delivery of group interventions, such as psychoeducational groups and classes for career-undecided students and alumni.
- Provide consultation to administrators, advisors, faculty, staff, parents, and others regarding career information and concerns.
- Plan, develop, and promote outreach activities for the university community.
- Maintain counseling records in accordance with professional guidelines.
- Participate in scheduled meetings, including office staff and student services group meetings.
- Support office functions for career fairs (Fall and Spring), Interview Days, employer information sessions, and other events.
- Participate in training to maintain or enhance job skills.
- Maintain knowledge of campus and community resources, including RIT academic programs, majors, minors, and degree requirements.
- Maintain and update the career counseling portion of the website with current occupational and educational resources.
- Meet with students and alumni with disabilities to teach effective job search skills and provide advising on disability-related topics, including disclosure, interviewing, networking, and identifying suitable opportunities.
- Serve as campus liaison for RIT Workforce Recruitment Program (WRP) interviews, managing the process of advertising, scheduling candidates, preparing interviewees, and coordinating logistics with WRP and NTID Center on Employment.
- Develop and deliver customized instruction on job search strategies, career trends, and workplace success through seminars, workshops, classes, and presentations.
- Communicate with students and alumni regarding employment opportunities, program offerings, employer recruiting events, and career trends.
- Market students, academic programs, and university services to prospective employers, identifying employment opportunities and establishing new recruiting partnerships.
- Support university corporate outreach and partnership goals, ensuring positive and effective employer recruiting and hiring relationships.
- Participate in employer hiring strategy development and recruiting activities.
- Partner with various divisions to support university initiatives in admissions, alumni relations, global partnerships, research development, and institutional fundraising.
- Counsel students on the employment process and related issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 5 years of related experience (equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered).

Pay
$59,000–$64,000 annually.
