Core Responsibilities
- Assist in managing turnover through appropriate staff selection, hiring, orientation, training, education, coaching, evaluation and development of new and existing personnel
- Demonstrate considerable initiative and judgment involved in assigned tasks, delegating responsibilities, resolving operational problems and handling employee and resident complaints and concerns
- Assist residents and their families with special parties and/or events as needed
- Aid in administrative tasks related to managing the dining rooms and staff, including but not limited to: inventory and ordering, reviewing weekly schedules and employee punches; reviewing, correcting, properly organizing and filing customer meal tickets
- Aid in dining reports, assist with updating resident communication boards
- Communicate with Dining Room Manager and/or Director on department matters and concerns involving residents, employees and other departments
- Demonstrate initiative and judgment involved in assigned tasks, delegate responsibilities, resolve operation problems and handle employee and resident complaints and concerns
- Demonstrate knowledge of food sanitation practices, workplace safety, labor laws, housekeeping procedures and food and wine service techniques
- Promote positive relationships with residents, visitors, and regulators, to include presenting a professional appearance and attitude
- Create an environment that acknowledges, encourages and celebrates differences
- Seek opportunities to gain experience working and collaborating in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings with a willingness to change for continual improvement
Experience and Skills
- Education and/or experience equivalent to the completion of a high school diploma or GED
- Previous restaurant or food service industry in a retirement community or long term aging facilities preferred
- Experience in management and/or supervision of restaurants, hotels, or retirement community facilities preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint)

Pay and Schedule
- The starting wage depends on experience, certification and education.
- This is a full-time, exempt position scheduled to work 5 days a week and will include working weekends and holidays.
