Assistant Department Manager (Wood)

About the role

This position trains and develops Product Sales Specialists and ensures customers receive excellent customer service and product information.

Responsibilities

• Act and work in a manner consistent with company's core values
• Demonstrate safe lifting practices and understand company's retail philosophy
• Drive and teach the company's retail philosophy (People, Position, Product, Presentation, Price, Promotion, Purchasing)
• Provide direction to Product Sales Specialists for high-quality customer service
• Complete certification courses and demonstrate knowledge of merchandise and installation
• Ensure department merchandising, pricing, and organization
• Communicate SOPs to associates and process merchandise to the showroom floor
• Validate product placement and pricing, and communicate inventory needs to management
• Direct and assist in merchandise processing, and stock and tag displays
• Greet customers, assist with product questions, and process check-outs
• Follow cash, check, and credit card acceptance procedures, and present 'how-to' classes
• Answer the phone and maintain a professional demeanor

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of customer service/sales experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding and compliance with safe lifting practices and company policies
• Proficiency in driving and teaching the company's retail philosophy
• Completion of industrial truck (forklift) proficiency testing and certification
• Knowledge of store hours and working conditions
