Assistant Department Manager (Wood)
About the role
This position trains and develops Product Sales Specialists and ensures customers receive excellent customer service and product information.
Responsibilities
- Act and work in a manner consistent with company's core values
- Demonstrate safe lifting practices and understand company's retail philosophy
- Provide direction to Product Sales Specialists for high-quality customer service
- Complete certification courses and demonstrate knowledge of merchandise and installation
- Communicate and organize department merchandise and pricing
- Communicate with management about inventory needs
- Direct and assist in merchandise processing to the showroom floor
- Validate product placement and pricing
- Greet and assist customers with product questions and selections
- Process refunds and exchanges
- Present 'how-to' classes to customers
- Follow cash, check, and credit card acceptance procedures
- Stock and tag merchandise displays
- Create price tags and merchandise signs
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One year of customer service/sales experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
- Thorough understanding and compliance with safe lifting practices and company policies
- Knowledge of merchandise and installation
- Ability to communicate and organize department merchandise and pricing
- Ability to follow cash, check, and credit card acceptance procedures
- Ability to stock and tag merchandise displays

Working Conditions
- Warehouse environment
- Moderate to noisy noise levels
- Physical demands: ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, use hands and fingers, stand, walk, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
Physical/Sensory Requirements
