Assistant Department Manager (Wood)

About the role

This position trains and develops Product Sales Specialists and ensures customers receive excellent customer service and product information.

Responsibilities

• Act and work in a manner consistent with company's core values
• Demonstrate safe lifting practices and company retail philosophy
• Provide direction and complete certification courses for Product Sales Specialists
• Ensure accurate customer service and product knowledge
• Communicate and validate merchandise placement and pricing
• Communicate inventory needs to management
• Process customer transactions and returns
• Present 'how-to' classes to customers
• Follow cash, check, and credit card acceptance procedures
• Stock and tag merchandise displays
• Greet and assist customers

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• One year of customer service/sales experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Thorough understanding and compliance with company safety and operating procedures
• Proficiency in industrial truck (forklift) operation and certification
• Knowledge of merchandise and installation
• Effective communication and teaching abilities

Store hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Pickup hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Saturday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Physical/Sensory Requirements

• Exposure to warehouse environment and moving vehicles
• Moderate to noisy work environment
• Physical work: ability to exert 30-60 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20-30 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 20 pounds of force constantly
• Use hands and fingers to handle or feel
• Stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
