About the Role
Assistant Dean of Student Affairs for Campus and Residence Life, full-time permanent position in a college/university setting.
Responsibilities
- Lead higher education initiatives related to student development, student engagement, residential living, and leadership development.
- Supervise full-time professional staff, volunteers, and student employees.
- Develop and administer culturally relevant programs for diverse populations.
- Provide staff training and supervision.
- Exercise leadership, decision-making, and budget management.
- Work effectively in a team environment.
- Manage several divergent tasks simultaneously, manage change, and advise student organizations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (communication, education, social work, psychology, etc.).
- Five years of full-time experience leading higher education or higher-education-adjacent initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience supervising full-time professional staff.
- Experience working within student affairs units such as residence life, student activities, and campus events.
- Proficiency in analytical and critical thinking, and ability to make decisions following appropriate consultation.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related field (communication, higher education administration, counseling, social work, education, psychology, etc.).
- 2–3 years of experience supervising full-time staff, volunteers, and student employees.
- Experience with collegiate housing and residential life.
- Effective supervisory experience.
