Job Responsibilities
- Aids the Dean and Assistant Dean, Workforce Development in planning, developing, managing, updating, and evaluating all aspects of the program.
- Manages faculty and staff; oversees clinical site liaison; maintains clinical calendars and matrix; develops and implements curriculum; ensures program compliance with Board and/or accreditor rules and regulations; conducts site visits; serves as a student advocate; establishes and maintains program policies and procedures; prepares faculty and student handbooks; manages program budget; ensures supplies and equipment meet program objectives.
- Prepares data and written materials for state and Board requirements, reports, proposals, self-studies, surveys, and site visits; maintains on-site student records; collaborates with Human Resources to maintain required faculty and staff documentation; identifies need for outside resources; serves on program committees; assists with admission process and orientation; maintains teaching load of 50% in skills lab, sim lab, and/or clinical; ensures course and clinical evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Conducts thorough assessments of clinical agencies to ensure they can provide adequate clinical experiences.
- Maintains regular communication with clinical faculty and Academic Program Manager regarding agency placements and faculty assignments.
- Participates in monthly reviews with Clinical Partners and Assistant Dean, Workforce Development to discuss clinical operations.
- Ensures clinical evaluations are completed in a timely manner by assigned faculty; collects and disseminates semester-end student and clinical site evaluations data to Assistant Dean, Workforce Development; maintains clinical facility contract updates; maintains minutes of inter-agency meetings.
Faculty Responsibilities
- Teaches within the nursing curriculum; participates in strategic planning and assessment of instructional initiatives to ensure quality of program.
- Utilizes principles of teaching that recognize the characteristics of the adult learner; makes continuous efforts to improve quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing different and innovative methodologies and techniques in teaching; demonstrates willingness to acquire skills for utilizing online activities as enhancers to course content/material during interactive teaching and learning.
- Ensures clinical assignments, rotation matrixes, and calendars are completed one month prior to start of next rotation; confirms faculty is consistently following policies and guidelines as related to student clinical rotation experience; ensures student performance in theory and clinical learning objectives and outcomes is completed and documented in a timely manner by all faculty; provides ongoing communication with students through scheduling of office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods; provides feedback of clinical performance by students and faculty when completing site visits to facilities; reviews student learning material on an ongoing basis and provides input for revision to faculty and at curriculum meetings; keeps current with new technologies and safety regulations; participates in student advising activities; participates in committee activities that support the mission and function of the nursing program; attends faculty meetings or delegates as indicated to faculty.
Qualifications
- Current valid and clear California Registered Nursing License (for locations located in CA); or Registered Nursing License from state in which WFD site is located;
- A minimum of a completed Bachelor's degree with enrollment in an outside Master’s Program or enrollment in our Unitek Master's program using our Tuition Assistance;
- Course work in nursing, education, or administration required;
- A minimum of one year teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs (associate, baccalaureate, masters, or doctoral);
- One year’s continuous experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care and/or equivalent experience as determined by the Board of Nursing;
- Demonstrated leadership skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;

- Ability to work collaboratively with external and internal stakeholders;
- Leadership style that emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation;
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology (MS Teams, Zoom, Learning Management Systems);

- Experience in supervision, planning, budget preparation in program maintenance.
