Assistant County Attorney Associate
Jefferson County seeks a passionate attorney to join the Human Services team, performing a variety of legal work.
About the role
The Assistant County Attorney will provide legal representation and advice concerning:
- Child abuse and/or neglect investigations
- Dependency and neglect proceedings and appeals
- Juvenile delinquency matters
- Adult protection investigations and proceedings
- Mental health cases
- Drug and alcohol commitments
- Public assistance applications and appeals
- Liquor license violation prosecutions
- Civil collections
- Child support services
- Records requests and subpoenas
This position operates in a technologically advanced, fast-paced, and collegial work environment, collaborating with county clients, agencies, elected officials, and the public. The Jefferson County Attorney’s Office consists of 50 attorneys and staff members providing a full range of legal services. A hybrid work schedule with both in-office and remote opportunities is available to promote work-life balance.
Responsibilities
- Work independently while managing multiple tasks and deadlines
- Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and co-workers
Requirements
- JD or LLB from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in Colorado; active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Colorado
- Minimum of two years’ litigation experience (preferred)
- A writing sample (appellate writing samples preferred) must be submitted with the application
Pay
The anticipated hiring range for this Associate-level position is $130,000 - $140,000. Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skills, the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, and budgetary considerations.

Schedule
This is a full-time position operating on a standard Monday-Friday work week, with opportunities for remote work on some days.
Criminal history and motor vehicle record background checks are required. A valid Colorado driver’s license is required for positions that drive on county business within 30 days of hire.
