Assistant Corporation Counsel Supervisor - Aviation, Environmental, Regulatory and Contracts Division
About the role
The City of Chicago (“City”) Department of Law is seeking an attorney for the position of Assistant Corporation Counsel Supervisor (“ACC Supervisor”) in the Aviation, Environmental, Regulatory and Contracts (“AERC”) Division to provide legal advice regarding Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance, risk and compliance, among other responsibilities. This ACC Supervisor will work under the general supervision of the Deputy Corporation Counsel and Chief Assistants Corporation Counsel of the division. The role emphasizes regulatory and advisory work. This ACC Supervisor will provide guidance on issues involving confidentiality, attorney-client privilege, professional conduct obligations, and reputational risk as they relate to AI, as well as on the legal, operational, cybersecurity, privacy, and regulatory issues associated with AI. The attorney will, among other things, formulate advice for City departments on their employees’ use of AI in their job functions and work with cybersecurity, technology and risk management resources in other City departments to develop policies on this topic, as well as keep abreast of the governmental regulatory environment and industry standards and practices with respect to AI. This attorney will also work in other areas, including but not necessarily limited to data sharing, data privacy and security, intellectual property, and regulatory matters. Handling or overseeing litigation, such as AI-related or cybersecurity litigation, is also possible in this role as needed.
